"Dear Dan & Manuela,
Your thoughtful note following the death of my mother meant so
much to me. You said you "feel honored and blessed" to have
known her and I take that to heart.
We also feel very blessed that you were my
mother's caregiver. You were not only attentive and caring of
her physical needs but were thoughtful of her emotional needs as
you shared your family's daily lives with her. How she enjoyed
seeing new shoes, new songs learned by the children, Halloween
costumes, etc!
You were the touch of Jesus to her and I
thank God for all of you."

"Dear Manuel and Dan, What a blessing
you have been not only to my Dad, Arnie, but my entire family.
I am so grateful Dad could spend his last 10
months with you in a home filled with Christian love, joy,
laughter and precious children. You made all the difference in
welcoming Dad, humoring him and in patiently caring for him. As
time went on, both Connie and I referred to you and your
residents as our 2nd family.
Thanks for opening your doors for unarranged
visits and allowing Dad & I to feel so at home.
Manuela, you are truly gifted in the care you
provided right down to the last hour. Dad's passing was a
significant life event for me and because of you I will remember
it as a good experience and even a treasured time.
I miss you all and will always have
appreciation, love and respect in my heart for you. I thank the
Lord for you. Also, thanks for adding Denise's hymns into your
home. That time meant the world to us and filled our hearts with
hope, peace and love. I will cherish memories of Dad quietly
harmonizing along to his favorite tunes.
I will come & see you all as I care deeply
about you all. Until then, keep doing the Lord's work.
It's a privilege to have been touched by an
angel >> you Manuela."

"2007 was both a sad and happy year
for me. Sad because my husband of 62 years passed away in
February. He was in and out of the hospital from May to October
because of severe weight loss and low blood pressure. I just
assumed it was his heart as he had a quadruple bypass in the
seventies shortly after retiring from the Air Force.
During the six month period from May to
October, he was able to recover some, putting on weight and
actually beginning to feel better. But prior to his third trip
to the hospital, it was necessary to call the paramedics as he
passed out at home. After a ten day stay in the hospital, I was
left with a small glimmer of hope that he would come home again;
however, the doctors felt differently. They encouraged me to put
him in a nursing home to continue his care which consisted of
treating his progressing dementia and chronic bedsores.
So upon his release from the hospital, I made
the decision to put him in a private nursing facility close to
my daughter. He ended up staying there for two months, often
going up and down and refusing his meals and food.
Shortly after Christmas, my daughter, Pat,
found a wonderful adult family home close to her house. Manuela,
the owner and caretaker, was truly my husband's guardian angel.
She was able to work miracles on him, getting him to both eat
and exercise. He was one of six adults in this home. He received
the best possible care right up to his last day."

"Manuela & Paula,
Can't thank you enough for coming to my Dad's service
yesterday, but most of all for taking care of my Dad in his
final days. He made a remarkable come back or rally and I
attribute it all to your home and nurturing care. I could see it
in his eyes how much happier he was - and getting him to eat was
a major accomplishment!
I knew the first time I talked to you it
would be a good fit! I guess God was watching over him when he
sent us to you.
I will miss seeing you guys - talking to you
and laughing with you but I plan to stay in touch.
Paula - thank you so much for being there
w/my Dad in his final minutes."
